Strawberry Lodge Mutual Water Company

SLMWC is a Mutual because it is owned and operated by property owners of Strawberry Lodge. High in the San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California at an elevation of about 6000 ft., this little water company has provided fresh well water to the local community since 1932. Our board members are volunteers.

The community is comprised of 136 active water users. There are a total of 273 water shares issued among those property owners. All 136 are SLMWC shareholders. 

Each lot is entitled to one share in the company and each share represents one vote for policy decisions. All lots in Strawberry Lodge are entitled to a water share and water service. Property owners are encouraged to contact the office for more information.

SLMWC is guided by voted upon rules called bylaws in accordance with laws under the California Corporations Code. The bylaws were first written in 1932 when SLMWC was founded. Naturally, our bylaws need updating from time to time. To update the bylaws, it takes 50% +1 votes from shareholders to ratify the changes that the SLMWC Board has adopted. Then, the new Bylaws can be filed with the Secretary of State in Sacramento.

To get the vote, SLMWC intends to contact shareholders via email, USPS Mail or in person. As part of this effort, this website is to provide downloadable and viewable documents of the AMENDED AND RESTATED BYLAWS OF STRAWBERRY LODGE MUTUAL WATER COMPANY. See them in the FILES section on this page after they’ve been adopted by the Board of Directors. We need just 50% +1 votes from active shareholders to make this work. The wellbeing of our neighborhood depends on all of us working together.
